Back to Blogging
After many months off, I decided to start blogging again in order for everyone to keep up to date with our family. I can't promise I will keep it as current my pregnancy blog was, but I will definitely give it my best. :) Happy Blogging!

First time cutting Ava's fingernails
Today I decided it was time to cut Ava's fingernails after realizing that my chest and neck were full of little scratches from our little one. Everyone I have talked to said that this is the hardest thing to do and there have been a lot of people who have accidentally cut their baby's fingers. I am very happy to say that I was able to cut all of Ava's fingernails without cutting her one time. It wasn't easy because Ava does not like to have her hands held down because she is always moving them but I did it! I wanted to keep them to put in a memory box but then I figured that was going a little overboard and I finally threw them away. What can I say? I'm an obsessed mom. :)

First Set of Shots - No Fun!
We had Ava's 2 month doctor's appointment today, even though she is really 10 weeks old now. Her doctor, Dr. Johanson (Lincoln's doctor too) is so popular that it is very hard to get to see him. I was dreading today, but it was something we had to do.
Here were Ava's measurements:
Weight 11 lbs 13 oz 91st percentile
Height 23.8 inches 97th percentile
Head cir. 15 1/4 91st percentile
Dr. J said she was well proportioned and that she is growing like a weed. :) We changed Ava's acid reflux medicine to something to baby prilosec. I feel so badly for her because you can just see she wants to be a happy baby but she is always in so much discomfort. Ava didn't mind at all this time when mommy took off her clothes to get her measurements. I was doing my best to keep her distracted before the shots came. Ava only needed to get 2 sets of shots today because she had her Hep B shots while she was in the hospital. When the nurse was ready I stood over Ava and the nurse quickly gave Ava her shots. Ava looked up at me with her big brown eyes and was startled when the shots were given to her. She let out a really big cry and I picked her up as soon as they finished. I didn't even let the nurse have time to put the band aids on her. I felt so horrible, like I had betrayed her or something. But, after a little while Ava calmed down and mommy made sure to give her lots of extra love that night. I think it's harder on the parents than it is on the babies. This mommy stuff can be tough at times, but definitely the best thing that has ever happened to me. :)
